Some grinders do the job. The C5 Pro does it better.
Timemore's Chestnut C series has always punched above its weight — precise, portable, and built to last. With the C5 Pro, they've taken everything that worked and quietly made it exceptional. New burrs. A smarter dial. A body that feels like it means business. The result is a grinder that belongs on any serious home brewer's counter, whether you're pulling shots before work or chasing a slow Saturday pour-over.

The Burrs
At the heart of the C5 Pro is the new S2C-042-III burr set — Timemore's largest conical burrs yet at 42mm, machined from SUS420 hardened stainless steel via 5-axis CNC and hardened to 55–58 HRC. The grinding path runs 16.23% longer than the previous-generation S2C660, which translates to a tighter particle distribution across the board: more fines where espresso needs them, fewer where pour-over doesn't. The outcome in the cup is brighter acidity, better balance, and a clarity that holds up as the coffee cools. A 5% improvement in grind consistency over the C3S Pro means you can push extractions higher without tipping into astringency.
The Dial
The C5 Pro's numbered stepped dial moves 0.031mm per click with 48 clicks per revolution, and every position is clearly numbered, so you're dialing in from a real reference point instead of counting from zero each time. It's a small change that makes a meaningful difference when you're tweaking your espresso recipe at 6am.
Here is our recommended grind settings for the C5 Pro:
- Espresso / Moka: 5–8 clicks
- Pour-over: 10–14 clicks
- French Press: 14–17 clicks

The Build
The C5 Pro is all-metal construction with a unibody aluminum alloy and stainless steel construction that doesn't flex, rattle, or wear in. Custom high-precision bearings keep the burrs aligned on dual axes with tolerances as tight as 0.007mm, so every rotation is smooth and stable. The 53mm body is wrapped in a refined grid engraving that gives you a confident, slip-free grip even with wet hands. A new XL funnel opening makes dosing easier and less messy, while the grippy silicone base keeps things planted and quiet on any surface.
Disassembly is straightforward. The drop-out burr design means cleaning and maintenance won't eat into your morning.
