Building on NucleusCoffee Tools’ reputation for precision and innovation, Bloom redefines brew bed preparation with a focus on control, clarity, and adaptability.
At its core, Bloom helps eliminate inconsistencies in the coffee bed, improves saturation, and optimizes extraction — all while empowering you to brew with greater precision, intention, and confidence.
Designed for brewers who value consistency and ease of use, Bloom integrates multiple functions — from deep distribution to surface refinement and bloom shaping — into a single, compact tool that enhances extraction across any brew method.
Whether you're working with a conical pour-over, flat-bed dripper, immersion brewer, or even an espresso basket, Bloom adapts seamlessly to your method — giving you the consistency and clarity you need to brew exceptional coffee, every time.

Dual Needle Distribution: Precision meets control
Bloom features a two-in-one needle system that includes both Straight and Fan Needle configurations, each designed to address specific challenges in filter coffee preparation.
With a simple twist of the end of the Bloom – the FlowTip – users can switch between needle types, or fully retract the needles for safe storage.

Straight Needle Mode
Reaches the bottom of the brew bed, ideal for conical brewers like V60s. It breaks up clumps, redistributes density, and eliminates air pockets that can lead to uneven flow or ‘choking’. The result is a more uniform extraction from the deepest part of your coffee bed.

Fan Needle Mode
Gently combs the surface, lifting chaff, boulders and other non-soluble particles to the top layer. Assists with lateral fines migration (over vertical), improving drainage, preventing blockage during drawdown, and improving surface evenness. This wider agitation also improves flow control and bed structure across larger brew beds.
Key Differences: Purpose made needles
Most WDT tools look similar. The Nucleus Bloom performs differently -- and it starts with what the needles are made of.
Each needle is titanium nitride (TiN) coated, making them 8x harder than standard stainless steel. That means they resist bending and wear through thousands of doses, holding their shape and precision long after cheaper alternatives have dulled.
But hardness alone isn't enough. The TiN coating also creates a low-friction surface that glides through your grounds without disrupting the bed structure -- distributing evenly, not aggressively.
And because static is the silent enemy of clarity, the Nucleus Bloom's needles absorb 20% more static charge than stainless steel, actively lifting fines and chaff so they don't end up in your cup.
Harder. Smoother. Smarter. The needle was engineered to do more, so your espresso can be more.
Spare needles are also available for separate purchase, and the Bloom can also be disassembled to customize the number or configuration of needles — offering true adaptability for different doses, brewers, or grind profiles.
The FlowTip Difference
FlowTip: Better bloom, better cup
On the reverse side of the tool, Bloom features a FlowTip — a shaping device that helps create a consistent divot in the coffee bed before pouring.
Often, brewers unknowingly pour water onto an uneven coffee bed — one where the depth of the centre is deeper than the edges. This irregular depth leads to uneven saturation, trapping gas in pockets that cause bubbling, turbulence, and poor CO₂ release. As water begins to draw down, it follows the path of least resistance, bypassing parts of the coffee and leading to subtle but significant channeling.
The FlowTip addresses this by creating a deliberate, central divot in the
This helps to even out both the horizontal and vertical bed depth, promoting uniform contact between water and coffee from the very start. T The result is smoother blooming, more consistent swelling across the bed, and a stable structure that enhances saturation and minimises channelling.
This intuitive tool plays a crucial role in creating structural consistency during the bloom phase of filter coffee brewing, particularly for conical drippers. By encouraging a more balanced and controlled bloom, the FlowTip makes it easier for brewers to achieve repeatable, high-quality extractions — no matter their pour technique or dripper type.
More than a WDT
More than a simple needle or WDT tool, Bloom is the missing piece in coffee brewing workflow. It’s intuitive, portable, and built for versatility, equally at home in cafés, at competitions, or on your kitchen bench.
The core features of the Bloom include:
- Titanium nitride (TiN) coated needles
- Extra and replacement needles
- Custom needle configuration
- Straight and Fan needling modes
- FlowTip attachment for brew bed depth consistency
- Easy twist for needle retraction
At its core, Bloom helps eliminate inconsistencies in the coffee bed, improves saturation, and optimizes extraction — all while empowering you to brew with greater precision, intention, and confidence.
Colors of actual products might show up slightly different than in the product photos. This is due to the various settings of monitors. Every monitor or mobile display has a different capability to display colors, and every individual may see these colors differently. In addition, lighting conditions at the time the photo was taken can also affect an image's color.
Products that have a shimmering coating will also show differently under different lighting setup. Colors might appear different even under a fluorescent light or a warmer shade bulb.
