A 62° conical dripper with carved guide grooves, built to hold a steady drawdown from bloom to finish

On a small-dose cone, balance depends on how evenly the slurry drains. Water that bypasses the bed, or a flow that chokes near the outlet, pulls the cup toward under- or over-extraction.

The “Caisson Ceiling” CC62 Dripper from DragonFly Design Center is a new bone china conical dripper built on the CT62 interior, pairing a 62° cone with recessed guide grooves to keep the flow rate consistent through the brew. It brews 1-2 cups with small conical filters and comes in Pink and Green.

How the CC62 Manages Flow

At 62°, the cone wall holds the paper in close contact, limiting bypass so the water you pour travels through the coffee bed rather than around it.

Where most conical drippers use raised ribs, the CC62 carves its channels into the wall. Water runs down these recessed longitudinal grooves, and a ring of channels at the base meters the outflow at the bottom of the cone.

The placement of that ring of channels, together with the shape and depth of the bottom cross-section, governs the final stage of the brew, when the bed settles toward the outlet. The result is a flow rate that neither rushes early nor stalls late, avoiding the bitterness and astringency of over-extraction and the sharp sourness of under-extraction.

Product Details

Brewing with the CC62

It takes 1 to 2 cup cone filters, including ORIGAMI 1-2 cup filters, Sibarist Cone S, and Hiflux Folding V 01.

The new bone china body is heat resistant to 120°C (248°F) and dishwasher safe.

The CT62 Groove Interior

•       62° cone: Shared with the CT62, holding the paper close to the wall.

•       Recessed longitudinal grooves: Carved into the wall in place of raised ribs.

•       Transverse base ring: Regulates outflow at the bottom of the cone.

The Bamboo Weave Exterior and the Caisson Ceiling Name

The exterior is based on a Chinese bamboo weaving technique, with strips interlaced horizontally and vertically in dense layers. Designed for the Year of the Snake, the weave’s outermost strip becomes a snake’s body.

Inverted and viewed from above, the pattern resembles a caisson ceiling, a structure that ancient Chinese architecture reserved for prestigious buildings. Like bamboo weaving, it is both structural and decorative, and the dripper takes its name from it.

The ORIGAMI Harmony Cup was developed in collaboration with Ryan Wibawa, Indonesia’s Brewers Champion in 2016 and 2024, who also represented his country and placed third in the 2024 World Brewers Cup (WBrC). His simple yet thought-provoking question  “Is it possible to create a cup that focuses particularly on aroma?”  became the inspiration behind its creation.

The Harmony Cup was designed to follow the growing trend in specialty coffee of uniting aroma and flavor. It was crafted to allow the subtle and layered characteristics of coffee to be fully experienced. Every sip is meant to reveal the richness and delicacy of carefully brewed coffee.

Shape that Enhances Aroma

The shape of the Harmony Cup draws from ORIGAMI’s Aroma Series. It is designed to capture the fragrance of coffee and release it gently as you lift the cup. The complex and fruity aromas of specialty coffee fill the senses before the first sip. The cup holds the aroma and warmth inside, so the coffee can be enjoyed fully from the first taste to the last drop.

Rim Shape that Smooths the Flow of Coffee

The rim of the Harmony Cup has a gentle, spreading angle. This allows the coffee to flow naturally across the tongue. The shape guides the liquid evenly, so the flavors touch every part of the mouth. The tip, center, sides, and back of the tongue all experience the coffee in balance. Each sip reveals the sweetness, body, and depth of the coffee. The rim allows the care and attention of the barista to be fully felt in the cup.

A Multi-Layered Taste Experience

The Harmony Cup combines the Aroma Series shape with the Pinot rim. The rim curves outward slightly. This allows the coffee to spread evenly across the tongue. The shape highlights the bright acidity and fruity notes, brings out sweetness in the center of the tongue, and leaves a soft, gentle bitterness at the back. Each sip becomes a layered, complete experience that reveals the richness and complexity of specialty coffee.

A spouted matcha bowl for whisking usucha, kneading a latte base and pouring it directly into the drinkware

The ORIGAMI Katakuchi Matcha Bowl “POUR” is an updates of the original ORIGAMI Katakuchi Matcha Bowl. With a reworked spout and a softly rounded base, you can whisk matcha and transfer it to a cup, glass, or pitcher from the same vessel.

How the Katakuchi “POUR” Handles Whisking and Pouring

The inside of the bowl curves down into a rounded base. A chasen needs open space at the bottom to move quickly in a W or M stroke, and the curved floor lets the tines travel through the tea instead of catching where the wall meets the base.

ORIGAMI reworked the spout on this version so it pours cleanly and completely. Matcha is a suspension rather than a solution, and the fine tea particles settle quickly once you stop whisking. A spout that empties the bowl fully carries that concentrate into the drink instead of leaving it on the wall.

The same bowl handles thin and thick preparations. Whisk a traditional usucha and drink from the bowl, or use less water and knead a thicker, koicha-style paste as a latte base. From there, pour it over steamed or cold milk, or over ice and sparkling water for a matcha soda.

Glaze to the Rim

On the “POUR,” the glaze is applied all the way to the rim, giving the bowl a more handmade finish than the original Katakuchi. Because glaze moves in the kiln, color and texture vary between pieces, and small drips or shifts in tone may appear around the rim. Each bowl is one of a kind.

Product Details

Preparing Matcha in the Katakuchi

Sift the matcha into the bowl, add water at around 70 to 80°C (158 to 176°F), and whisk with a chasen until the foam is fine and even. For a latte or soda, use less water to build a concentrated base, then pour it straight into the glass.

Pair the bowl with a bamboo chasen and chashaku. The ORIGAMI Matcha Whisk Stand gives the chasen a place to dry and hold its shape between sessions.

It is dishwasher and microwave safe, and it suits a home counter as well as the daily pace of a café bar.

The Bowl and Spout

•       Rounded base: Gives the chasen room to move through the tea, whether you are whisking usucha or kneading a thicker base.

•       Pour spout: Redesigned to pour cleanly and completely, so a latte or soda base moves from bowl to glass in one motion.

•       Glazed to the rim: The glaze extends fully to the rim, with natural variation in color and texture from bowl to bowl.

The Porcelain Surface

Depending on the color and production run, the porcelain surface may show fine irregularities or small pinholes. These come from how porcelain and glaze behave during firing and are part of the character of each piece.

A modern take to an early design from 1960s and 1970s

The Flare Cup features a vintage design that brings back the distinctive flare of the 1960s and 1970s, blending nostalgic charm with modern sensibilities. A reinterpretation of ORIGAMI's early designs, it revives the soft textures and subtle glazes that defined the era. The use of colored clay instead of plain white enhances its tactile appeal, while the carefully matched dimensions of the cup and base allow for convenient stacking. The updated handle design offers a more ergonomic fit, reflecting the needs of today’s user. Available in both a cup and saucer set and a mug, this piece captures the warmth and unique kiln-changing glaze of stoneware, offering a timeless connection to the past with a refined, contemporary twist.

The handles have also been refined from the original mold to better suit the modern hand, ensuring a more comfortable and ergonomic grip. The colors echo the soft clay and glaze tones found in the stoneware of that era, creating a nostalgic connection to the past. Available in two shapes—a cup and saucer set and a mug—this product invites you to enjoy the warmth and unique kiln-changing glaze that only stoneware can offer, blending tradition with contemporary practicality.
