The glass version of the TOS carafe will be available in late July
A three-way collaboration between 2016 World Brewers Cup Champion Tetsu Kasuya, Barcelona-based coffee equipment brand SIBARIST, and Japanese ceramics manufacturer ORIGAMI. Kasuya led concept development and validation, SIBARIST handled design direction, and ORIGAMI executed production entirely by hand in Japan.
The carafe is designed around a single functional principle: capturing, concentrating, and releasing coffee aroma at the moment of serving. Its handle-less silhouette is deliberately minimal, shaped to leave a tactile and visual impression while remaining intuitive in use. Each carafe and leather handle is individually hand-finished by skilled artisans, making each piece a product of accumulated craft experience rather than standardized output.
A Note on Production
Due to the drain casting process, a small raised point may occasionally appear on the interior base of the carafe. This occurs when the mold is inverted during production and clay converges at a single point along the base curve. This is an inherent characteristic of the manufacturing process and is not considered a defect. Fine surface textures or minor pinholes may also appear depending on colorway and production timing, consistent with the nature of porcelain ceramics.
Care Instructions
Wash and dry the carafe promptly after use to minimize coffee staining and odor absorption.
Routine cleaning: add a small amount of mild detergent to lukewarm water and wash gently using a bottle brush. A wine decanter brush is recommended given the narrow opening. Rinse thoroughly and dry upside down.
Stain removal: dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in lukewarm water, soak for 20 to 30 minutes, scrub thoroughly with a brush, and rinse well.
Drying: drain excess water and allow to air-dry inverted. If interior moisture remains, absorb gently with a paper towel before drying.
Do not use metal scrubbers or abrasive sponges. Avoid sudden temperature changes. After brewing, the carafe body may retain heat. Attach the included leather handle before handling.
Leather handle: color transfer may occur. If the handle becomes wet, dry thoroughly. Regular application of leather oil will maintain texture and extend the life of the material.
