GIVING BACK
For each purchase you make on Slow Pour Supply, a percentage of the sale price will be donated to charitable organizations that help support frontline food & beverage workers; stronger, fact-based history curricula for middle and high school students; and sustainability initiatives to improve the lives of people across the country. Slow Pour Supply also actively sponsors and supports initiatives that foster diversity and inclusion in our coffee community and involve baristas, coffee learners, education labs and competitors in these efforts. BENEFITING ORGANIZATIONS
nonprofit coffee shop dedicated to ending human trafficking through awareness, aftercare, and partnership
Januray 2021 - A 2nd Cup
A 2nd Cup is Houston's only nonprofit coffee shop dedicated to ending human trafficking through awareness, aftercare, and partnership. It's more than a cafe. It's coffee with a cause.
A 2nd Cup was established in 2012 to raise awareness about the issue of trafficking in Houston, create a space for conversation and action for our community, and to develop resources that help create a second chance for survivors. Since opening their brick-and-mortar location in 2015, they have hosted over 350 awareness events in their shop, educated over 78,000 unique customers who otherwise might not have engaged in the issue, and provided over $97,000 in direct and in-kind donations to our allies in the field.
In 2018, A 2nd Cup launched Brazen Table, a culinary and job skills training program for survivors of trafficking. Filling a distinct gap in the survivor care continuum, Brazen Table provides tangible skills and experiences to survivors of human trafficking and individuals facing significant barriers to employment, to enable them to find worthwhile and sustaining employment as they rebuild their lives. Finding and maintaining life-giving employment not only provides for the financial needs of our graduates, but also serves as a means to independence and self-agency so crucial to their ability to flourish. With a well-trained staff, deep ties to the anti-trafficking community and knowledge of the food and hospitality industry, A 2nd Cup is working to fill the gaps in education and experience. A 2nd Cup believes that freedom should belong to everyone. They work every day to make that vision a reality - from teaching our community about human trafficking, to strategic collaboration with our allies, to providing job skills to survivors of trafficking, A2C will be here #tileveryoneisfree.

TEACHING PEOPLE'S HISTORY
Zinn Education Project
Slow Pour Supply is proud to support the Zinn Education Project, and project collaboration between Rethink Schools and Teaching for Change. Slow Pour Supply believes that to change the schema we have to support factual education from the ground up. The Zinn Education Project promotes and supports the teaching of people’s history in classrooms across the country. For more than ten years, the Zinn Education Project has introduced students to a more accurate, complex, and engaging understanding of history than is found in traditional textbooks and curricula. With your support, they can add classroom film clips, make the site interactive, add lessons for the elementary grades, and hold summer writing workshops for teachers to share and document their stories for their free to use website.
