This collaboration between ORIGAMI and LEAVES COFFEE ROASTERS didn't begin with a recipe or a roast profile. It began with a question: what does the perfect cup actually require?

For Ishii-san, the answer started not with the beans, but with the brewer itself. No matter how exceptional the sourcing or how precise the roast, none of it matters if the extraction process can't faithfully translate that potential into the cup. That conviction led to a complete redesign of the dripper from the ground up — and the Pinn Dripper is the result.

Built through relentless iteration and dialogue, the Pinn Dripper is engineered to deliver consistent, expressive extraction regardless of who is brewing. Its design removes the variability that typically separates an expert pour from an everyday one, giving any brewer access to the full range of flavor a coffee has to offer.

Every structural detail was refined with purpose: the body dimensions, cone angle, and wall thickness were carefully calibrated, as were the rib geometry, bottom hole diameter, and the optimal angle for the paper filter. Nothing was left to assumption. Each element was tested, adjusted, and tested again until the design could reliably unlock what the coffee itself was always capable of.

The Pinn Dripper isn't just a brewing tool. It's the foundation this entire project was built on.

Making its world debut at the San Diego Coffee Expo — find us at the Slow Pour Supply booth, #1235.

The 55° Angle That Changes Everything

The Pinn Dripper is built around a precisely chosen 55° cone angle - and that single decision reshapes the entire extraction environment. Compared to the standard ORIGAMI Dripper, this geometry reduces the outer diameter by 18mm and the inner diameter by 17mm, resulting in a smaller coffee bed surface area. That reduction matters: it significantly shortens the lag time for water to saturate the entire bed evenly, preventing both under-extraction and over-extraction in the same brew. The result is a cup that reliably expresses the coffee's natural sweetness and clarity, regardless of who is behind the kettle.

Rib Architecture Engineered for Consistency

ORIGAMI's precision manufacturing is what makes the Pinn Dripper's rib structure possible. Ten fan-shaped ribs are positioned to create controlled airflow channels that accelerate water flow and dramatically reduce the risk of clogging. The carefully calibrated balance between the grooves and flat surfaces also ensures the paper filter seats securely and uniformly every time. Less movement, less guesswork, and a more repeatable pour from brew to brew.

Thermal Control Built Into the Material

The Pinn Dripper's porcelain body is intentionally thicker than the standard ORIGAMI Dripper, and that choice has a direct impact on flavor. During the first half of extraction, the added mass absorbs heat gradually, preventing the coffee bed from receiving too much thermal energy too soon. In the second half, the porcelain's natural heat retention slows the temperature drop, sustaining the ideal environment for balanced extraction. The body height is also kept compact at 6cm, giving brewers full control over kettle spout positioning and pour angle. Complex, well-balanced cups become not just achievable, but repeatable.

Precision Down to the Last Millimeter

The bottom hole diameter measures 28mm internally - larger than a typical cone dripper, and approximately 5mm wider than the standard ORIGAMI Dripper. That difference is the product of extensive testing, not guesswork. A larger outlet reduces the risk of water pooling and clogging, enabling cleaner flavor extraction and a more consistent flow rate across different grind sizes and brew styles. Every dimension on the Pinn Dripper exists because it earned its place.

Colors of actual products might show up slightly different than in the product photos. This is due to the various settings of monitors. Every monitor or mobile display has a different capability to display colors, and every individual may see these colors differently. In addition, lighting conditions at the time the photo was taken can also affect an image's color.

Products that have a shimmering coating will also show differently under different lighting setup. Colors might appear different even under a fluorescent light or a warmer shade bulb.
