Excellent thermo dynamics perfect for floral and fruit forward coffees using lower range brew temperature

Graycano is not your regular metal dripper. Coated in high technology coating, the graycano dripper offers excellent heat conductivity and retention.  Featuring interior protrusions called Lava Ribs, the graycano dripper promotes even extraction through maintaining water flow and temperature consistency, allowing you to accentuate the floral notes and fruit forward notes yet maintaining a balance cup quality using lower range water temperatures. 

Lava Ribs

One of the main features of the graycano is the Lava Ribs.This intentional design of the Graycano brewer mimics the lava ribs of volcanoes, manipulating variables that are specific in creating a perfect brewing environment.  These lava ribs work to promote even flow as water travels downwards, while ensuring the proper channeling of air through the pockets it created. The design and process creates turbulence and allows for even water distribution throughout the coffee. Especially when used in conjunction with the Sibarist Filters, the graycano dripper is able to create a very high consistency in drainage rate.

Perfect ThermoDynamics for a floral and fruit forward brew

In addition to the Lava Ribs, the graycano features a double-walled design with a conical center and a wrapped exterior. This works to create pockets of air under the cone between the center and exterior, assisting in maintaining a consistent and even temperature throughout the brewing process, and in the recirculation of heat from your fresh brew below. 

As a result of the aluminum metal used, the Graycano dripper is able to quickly reach the target temprature and maintaining it throughout the brewing process.  The graycano is coated with high technology coating - a  food safe and scratch resistant material and promotes a clean taste and does not interfere with the flavor of your coffee. The cast aluminum is an excellent choice for lower temperature brewing, a high heat retention and conductivity promotes a complex brew yet accentuating floral and fruity notes of the coffee.

Brewing great coffee is a science. The HIFLUX Wave Filter was designed with that in mind, and every element of its construction serves a specific, measurable purpose in how your coffee extracts, feels, and tastes.

Complexity, by design.

When water ponds above the coffee bed, the concentration gradient between water and coffee begins to equalize, slowing diffusion and limiting extraction efficiency. HIFLUX's high flow rate keeps fresh water moving through the bed continuously, maintaining a steep gradient and allowing extraction to work at full capacity. The result is complete, even extraction, even with a finer grind and in less time. Positive flavor compounds come forward while negative ones are suppressed. What you get is a cup with a noticeably more layered, complex flavor profile.

Body and texture you can feel.

The lyocell weave in every HIFLUX filter is precisely engineered to allow micro-particles under 20 micrometers to pass through. That is not a flaw. It is intentional. Those particles are what give coffee its texture and weight. The outcome is a silky, velvety mouthfeel that you would not typically expect from a pour-over, even in lighter roasts. That body also brings balance to the overall cup, rounding out acidity and brightness without muting them.

Flavor clarity that lasts.

This is where material choice matters most. Lyocell is a regenerated cellulose fiber, extruded into smooth, continuous threads rather than the wood pulp construction of traditional paper filters. That structural difference means significantly less surface area for lipid adhesion, allowing more oils to pass through. Since lipids carry aromatic compounds, the brew retains more aroma, more intensity, and more lasting flavor expression. The cup does not flatten after the first sip. It stays alive in the glass.

UFO Variable Wall Thickness Technology, and the reason behind the decision to not include base (holder).

Ceramic UFO is an attempt at stabilizing coffee slurry temperature throughout brewing. Via reducing unnecessary thermal mass from the upper levels of the dripper construction and positioning the dripper as close as possible to the heat retained within the carafe by removing the base, the ceramic UFO is able to create a brewing process that draws from a more stable incubated heat from below the brewer throughout the brewing process. 

Ceramic UFO’s uppermost wall thickness is 23.7% thinner than the lowermost wall thickness, removing unnecessary thermal mass.

Ceramic UFO is designed to sit directly on the server, which allows the hot heat from the output coffee inside the server to circulate upwards, constantly providing an additional source of heat towards the thickest part of the dripper for better thermal stability.

This would be an issue in traditional protruding-rib designs where airflow is heavily dependent on the separation of the dripper base and server via base risers, but with UFO’s air channels that provide constant and consistent air flow from behind the filter, fear of clogging (stalling) via air-lock is fully out of question.

An unprecedented 80º interior angle

The team at UFO Dripper aimed at creating the cup profiles they love from conicals brewers. They have found that the 80º interior angle of this brewer design slows down the brew to maintain a respectable contact time even with the air channels, and means that it's less sensitive to smaller doses. This is because the shallower the brewer walls, the less the bed depth changes with varying doses. The angle also contributes to greater accumulation of fines above the bed, further increasing clarity.  

UFO is designed to be the most forgiving conical brewer, using an unprecedented 80º interior angle, creating consistency the UFO team is looking for. 

Air Channel Technology

UFO incorporates air channels instead of protruding ribs, which combined with the Disputer tool allows for the perfect filter set and consistent bypass. The air channels also contribute to equalizing the air pressure above and below the carafe, mitigating any risk of stalling.  

Thermal Stability

The UFO team conducted extensive thermal testing, leading them to the current single-walled, solid Tritan design for the injection-molded V2. The Tritan material maintains superior thermal stability in the slurry, while also being extremely resistant to warping at boiling temperatures.
